SENIOR MEMBERS FELLOWSHIP

Better healthcare and nutritional awareness have enhanced the life-span of people in all countries. There are more than 400 senior members (sixty or more of age), in our parish. Consequently, old-age related challenges are also seen on the rise. In order to develop a healthy and positive attitude towards old age, we in our parish have started the organisation, ‘Senior Member’s Fellowship’, in the year 2000, by the then vicar, Rev. K. K. Thomas.

Membership:

Any member of the parish who has attained the age of sixty or more years.

Objective:

a) "That the aged men (or women) be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience" (Titus 2:2).
b) Build up a strong fellowship among the elderly members of the parish, to be a blessing to others.
c) Share the experience and leadership qualities with others for spiritual growth and witnessing Jesus Christ.
d) Develop a positive attitude towards old age as our Lord is in control of everything.

Function:

Governed by a committee consisting of the vicars as President, a vice president, a secretary, a treasurer, an auditor, and one representative each from every Prayer group, elected by the general body for a term of one year.

Activities:

a) Monthly meeting in the first Fridays of every month held at 10 A.M at the church.
Usually eminent personalities including our vicars, address the fellowship.
b) Physically challenged elders are being visited on any two Fridays of the month.
c) Holy Communion (short service) is consecrated on last Saturdays of every month at 8.00 A.M at church, after which breakfast is also served.
d) Visits are arranged to old age homes, in and around Ernakulam city.
e) A ‘One-day picnic’ is arranged every year, where all members participate enthusiastically.

We, Senior Member’s Fellowship of Elamkulam Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church, wish and pray that every member,
"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice." (Philip. 4:4).
